About the Conference

The 14th ITG Conference on Electronic Media Technology, also known as „Dortmunder Fernsehseminar”, was succesfully held 23-24 March 2011 at TU Dortmund University, Germany.

The conference has been organised by the Information Technology Society (ITG) within the Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE) in cooperation with

• IEEE Consumer Electronics Society, German Chapter
• TU Dortmund University
• FKTG, Fernseh- und Kinotechnische Gesellschaft e.V.
• Informatik Centrum Dortmund e.V.

For the first time, this conference was solely held in English.

Retrospect

Prof. Kays as conference chair welcomed the participants and introduced them to the conference programme. The ITG Conference on Electronic Media Technology has been held for the 14th time. In eight technical sessions various aspects covering home neworking, broadcasting, systems and applications as well as signal processing and source coding have been intensively discussed. Furthermore, a session dedicated to technical demonstrations and poster presentations attracted many participants and motivated for discussions.

During the coffee breaks there were plenty of opportunities for networking.

The poster sessions attracted many people. The technical demonstrations motivated for intensive discussions among the participants.

The social event took place in a very traditional place of Dortmund. The Zollern colliery also called the castle of labour impressively demonstrates industrial work and life in the early nineteenth century.
